Left Ireland without appearing for a DUI court appearance, what now?

I had to make some phone calls for this one. I have an Uncle who is on the Garda, he told me what you went through is a normal process for DUI in Ireland. You will get issued a bench warrant but they will not extradite from the United States for it. However he said they can add on a charge of Unlawful Flight to avoid prosecution. With this if you ever set foot in an EU country they can snatch you up and bring you back to Ireland. If it just stays a bench warrant for DUI they will only arrest you if your in the Republic of Ireland, your fine to go to the UK and Northern Ireland.
