Which city should I spend a year working and living in?

I am getting weary of college after just one year. I do not like my school and I honestly do not like attending college. I know some people may say, "well get used to it, you need an education." Maybe that is true. But just because I am not enjoying college doesn't mean I am lazy. I have worked before and I actually found it more enjoyable than school. I am considering moving away to either LA or NYC (I am from the mid-west) and just living and working there for a year just for the experience of it, just for something new. I know I am young but I feel so bored by absolutely everything around me and I need something new, I don't care how hard things may be when I get there. Where should I move to, NYC or LA, which has more job opportunities, which is more affordable (I know both are kind of pricey), which, in your experience, do you like better?
