Why were Republicans giving George W Bush 75% Approval Ratings while the rest of the Country was giving him...?

Is this a joke? The left was threatening to leave the country if Kerry lost to Bush. You wonder why the left would give him the lowest approval ratings possible? They were burning him in effigy in the streets during anti-war protests, for crying out loud!
