Will I automatically get housing benefit if I move into a place in a different council area?

I receive Incapacity Benefit and DLA and want to move to a different area, but don't currently need to claim housing benefit and have no experience of the application process. If I were to just move into a new place and apply, would my application be fairly straightforward due to my disability? I've looked at directgov etc, but can't make any real sense of it all..
